Taofiq Adedayo Alabi is a Professor in the Department of English, Faculty of Arts, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. He specialises in Functional Linguistics with emphasis on Stylistics of a Second Language. His research interests are in Applied Linguistics, Phonetics and Phonology. Professor Alabi was a resource person on the platform of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) teachers re-training project for five consecutive years.

Professor Taofiq Alabi is a recipient of a national (NUC/NUDTAS) award, with his Ph.D. thesis adjudged the best in the discipline of Arts within the Nigerian university system during 2009. He has well over sixty publications to his credit in local, national and international outlets.

Professor Taofiq Alabi was former Director, Linguistic Immersion Centre; former Director, Institute of Translation Arts; former Head, Department of English; and current Chair, Faculty of Arts Abstract Committee, among other services he renders to the University of Ilorin community.
