Dr (Mrs) Foluke Aliyu

English and Literary Studies

Foluke Aliyu is a Reader in the Department of English, Faculty of Arts, University of Ilorin. In the department she has served as Level Adviser, NASELLS staff adviser and on several committees as member, secretary and chairperson. She is the current Examination Officer for the department. In the Faculty, she has been the Secretary of the Editorial Board of the Faculty of Arts Journal, Alore: Journal of the Humanities, since 2015. Since 2020, also, she has been on the Lecture, Symposium, and Conference Committee as well as on the Technical Committee on Promotion (Junior). She has served as the Faculty of Arts Representative in the Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Social Sciences and Veterinary Medicine and also in GNS. She is also a member of the University Security Policy Committee. From 2012 to 2024, she was a member of the Editorial Board of Unilorin Bulletin. Other University committees she has been appointed to include SERVICOM, GNS Monitoring Committee, Committee on Development and Management of Computer-Based Test and three TETFund Research Proposal Committees. She is the Vice-Chairperson of the Academic Union of Universities (ASUU).
Her research interests include Feminism, Aesthetics in both oral and written literary texts, Cultural Studies, Literary Theories and Criticism, Gender Studies and Semiotics.
Foluke Aliyu is a joint winner of a 2015 TETFund Research Grant worth 16 million naira titled “Developing a Functional Curriculum for Linguistic Immersion Programme in Nigeria.”
