Biography

Victoria Adunola ALABI, is a Professor in the Department of English, University of Ilorin with 29 years university teaching, research, and administrative experience.
She has served as two times Head of English Department and as Director of the Institute of Translation Arts and Director of General Studies Division. Her research interests are mainly in English semiotics and stylistics.
She has over sixty publications in academic journals and books locally, nationally, and internationally. Her papers have appeared, among others, in Semiotica, and World Englishes. She has also co-edited many academic books and journals. She has supervised above 130 B.A., over 55 MA and 10 PhD students. Two of the PhD theses she supervised, in stylistics and semiotics respectively, were adjudged by the National Universities’ Commission (NUC) as the best PhD theses in the discipline of the Arts in the Nigerian University system for 2009 and 2012 respectively.
